Kyocera Departmental Printer Installation Guide

Two printers are available:

  • kyocera1 ( printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it ).
  • kyocera2 ( printer-dip-kyocera2.dmi.unipg.it ).

To proceed with the installation, please contact laboratory technicians.
The automatic procedure is not available, we can provide remote support and for this we recommend using: AnyDesk

DRIVERS (Kyocera CS 4053ci KX)

Windows Installation

  • Save the .zip drivers and extract all files
  • Install a network printer
  1. Open Windows settings; one way is to press the Windows + X keys and select “Settings”
  2. Open the panel “Devices and Printers” (“Devices”) and choose “Printers & Scanners” (“Printers & Scanners”)
  3. Add a printer; the system will try to search for it on the network without finding it, at the bottom of the list of found printers select the link that shows that the printer you are looking for is not in the list
  4. Select the choice that you want to add the printer using the TCP / IP address or the hostname and press the “Next” button
  5. Select “TCP / IP Device” and enter the printer address:
  • printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it (to install kyocera1)
    1. Uncheck the box to use the default driver and press “Next” (“Next”)
    2. Press the button to Search for the driver in the Disk (“Have Disk …”), search for the previously downloaded and extracted drivers and select the .inf file suitable for your operating system and press “Open”
  1. Choose the printer model “” and press “OK”
  2. Change the proposed name for the printer to “kyocera1”
  3. Without printing the test page, finish the installation
  • Set a code for printing
  1. Select the printer and press the central button to manage it (“Manage”)
  2. Open the “Printer Properties”
  3. Open the last tab of the settings (“Device Settings”)
  4. Open the button under the photo “Administration …” (“Identity …”) and In “Job accounting” enter the unique code used to print / copy as the account ID
  • Make a test print
  • Check the print queue
  1. Open, with a browser, the address https://printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it and proceed with opening the page even if the certificate is indicated as untrusted, in the panels:
  2. Job Status → Print Job Status, the print queue is visible
  3. Job status → Print job log, completed jobs are visible

Linux installation

Procedure tested only on Ubuntu and derivatives (Mint)

  • Install the driver
  • Install a network printer , from the control panel with the following settings:

Network Printer
Type: Appsocket / HP Jdirect
Parameters
Host: printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it
Port: 9100
If it asks you for the printer driver, select the model kyocera Taskalfa 40053ci
At the request for Installable Options: select the presence of drawers 3,4 present in the first option
Printer name (IMPORTANT all lowercase!) : must be kyocera1

  • Download the script kyocera.sh
  • Run the script with the kyocera1 argument . sudo ./kyocera.sh kyocera1

The script will ask you for a name (this name is only descriptive and the IDM identification may be fine)
and a code which must be the UNIQUE CODE you use for the prints / photocopies .

  • Make a test print
  • Check the print queue

N.B. If printing remains paused and a code error is reported, but you are sure you have entered the right code, try restarting the cups service on the PC. sudo service cups restart
Cancel the document from the queue and try to send it back to print.


MAC installation

Download drivers Driver Apple OSX 10.8 or higher

Download and then install the software for MAC.
Install the printers following the procedure below:

  • press '+' to add a printer, select 'IP' at the top
  • indicate 'printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it' in the address bar, select 'LPD' in protocol
  • press 'ok' to pop up options and then 'add'
  • install the second printer by repeating the operations from the beginning by changing the address with printer-dip-kyocera2.dmi.unipg.it

Run the kyocera program (search among the installed ones).

  • select the printer printer-dip-kyocera1.dmi.unipg.it
  • click on Work and enter your print code in the Account ID field
  • click on Printers and repeat the operation for printer-dip-kyocera2.dmi.unipg.it
